The UK JUGS meetings will be a combination of talks, learning and socialising. We are currently putting together an events diary but we do plan:
- Scheduled speakers
- Lightning talks
- Prizes / raffles for donated books, Java merchandise etc
- Social events (pub / dinner meets)
- Code clinics
We currently meet on the last Wednesday of the month. We hold talks in Room 6.01, Appleton Tower (11 Crichton Street Edinburgh EH8 9LE - map) and retire to a local pub for discussions after.
Next Meeting – Analyzers and Productivity
JUGS returns with two short talks by members of the group on the topics of Analyzers and Productivity.
Martin Robertson will be outlining how his projects on analyzing and tracing can simplify the pain of bug hunting.
Andrew Williams is going to talk about developer productivity using his companies product “HeadsUp Agile”.
Following a quick poll we have set the start time to 7:00 pm and hope to be in the pub by 9pm. The meeting will be held at our regular location in Appleton Tower room 6.01 (6th floor).
Overview
InTrace is a tool which enables the tracing of program execution without recompilation. You can easily trace your own classes, library classes or system classes. This tool can be used by adding a single extra JVM parameter to a new JVM process (see below) or by using the Eclipse plugin. InMemProfiler is a tool for tracking the allocation and lifetime of Java objects. This tool aims to answer questions about the instances of classes in a running application and who created them.
HeadsUp Agile is everything you ever wanted in a software project management system. It is the member of the development team you will wonder how you ever lived without. HeadsUp Agile takes care of the monotony of monitoring software health and managing teams of developers and gives your team back the time they need to do their job.
Come along and join a demonstration and discussion of the 3 projects above – we would love to get lots of views involved! There will be plenty of time afterwards for any topic of discussion you wish to bring along and we will take the conversation to a nearby pub afterwards.
Please grab a ticket so we have an idea of numbers.
See you there!
